Singer Justin Beiber has announced he’s cancelling the remaining of his Justice World Tour shows in the wake of him contracting Ramsay Hunt Syndrome which has left him with partial facial paralysis. The revelation came after Justin postponed three shows on his 2022 Justice World Tour earlier this week.
On Instagram, Justin posted a video providing an update about his illness and asking fans to keep him in their prayers. “I have this syndrome called Ramsay Hunt syndrome and it is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis,” the singer says in the video.

“As you can see, this eye is not blinking,” he continued before he does a winking action with his other eye. He also mentioned that he is unable to either smile or move his nostril on one side of his face, so there is full paralysis on that particular side.
Ramsay Hunt syndrome occurs when a nerve in the head is infected by the varicella-zoster virus that may cause facial paralysis and hearing loss in the affected ear, apart from the troublesome rash. If there is not much damage to the nerve, complete recovery could be obtained within a few weeks. If damage is more severe, you may not fully recover, even after several months.
Earlier this week, Bieber had rescheduled two shows at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena and one at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. announcing that the postponement was due to a “non-COVID-related illness.”
Bieber had left a message for all his fans in his Instagram video, “I wish this wasn’t the case but obviously, my body is telling me I got to slow down. We don’t know how much time it’s gonna be but it’s gonna be ok. I trust God, it’s all for a reason and I’m not sure what that is right now but in the meantime, I’m gonna rest. I love you guys, peace.”
The Peaches singer says he has hope and that he will get back to doing ‘what he’s born to do’.
Justin was also set to perform in India in October as part of his Justice World Tour 2022. Following his diagnosis, there has been no word on whether or not a concert in India is still on the cards for him.
