YouTube Music will now let you make your own custom radio stations

Youtube is rolling out a new feature on its music streaming service, allowing users to create customized radio stations. YouTube Music launched the ‘Radio Builder’ feature on Tuesday.

Through “Create a radio”, users can choose their favourite artists and the algorithm will create a specialized playlist for them. This removes the hassle of creating playlists from scratch, allowing for an uninterrupted listening experience. You can pick up to 30 artists and also choose how frequently these artists appear on the station. There will also be specific filters such as “new discoveries” or “chill songs” to further tailor the experience for you. According to 9to5Google, Youtube first started testing this feature last year.

Popular music streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music offer radio features that allow users to create playlists based on a specific song or artist, but they don’t offer additional customization beyond that point.

To access the feature, you need to navigate to the YouTube Music homepage and scroll down until you see “Your music tuner.”

If the selected combination doesn’t produce any result, YouTube Music throws an error message saying “No songs to play”. After completing the process, you will get an updated radio using the new layout. The playlist or radio station will be named after the artists or features of the playlist. You can save the radio by hitting the ‘Add to library’ button.

The new feature is rolling out on iOS and Android in all of the countries where YouTube Music is available for both free and paid users.
