Ranbir Kapoor is facing the internet’s scorn following Alia Bhatt’s revelation that he used to insist on wiping off her lipstick to leave her lips looking natural.
In a recent video posted by Vogue India, the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani actress shared some interesting make-up tips that work for her, with her fans and followers. However, what caught the netizens’ attention is Alia’s revelation about her husband Ranbir Kapoor’s reaction to her makeup routine.
Alia showed how she applies lipstick and tries to keep it faded and minimal because her husband ‘doesn’t like it’. “Because one thing my husband…when he wasn’t my husband but when he was my boyfriend as well… he would be like ‘wipe that off, wipe that off’ because he loves the natural colour of my lips,” she explains. While Alia thought she was sharing a cute detail about her relationship with Ranbir, the revelation did not impress Twitter folks much. Of course, the internet had a lot to say. “Ranbir does sound like a toxic husband!” wrote a user in the comments section of Vogue’s video. “The way she keeps mentioning Ranbir sometimes feels like she is asking for help,” stated a follower.

Online critics have labelled the actor as “toxic and controlling” – and this isn’t just a one-off incident, the actor has come under fire more than a few times for his misogynistic comments.
Maybe AIia *wants* Ranbir to look bad and lose fans and then she'll become the single biggest star in Bollywood defeating her husband is the first step of her plan

Earlier, Alia and Ranbir faced similar comments when during an interview she said that Ranbir ‘doesn’t like’ her raising her voice during arguments. “I have to try very hard to control my anger because my husband does not like (it) when my voice goes above this decibel. Because he thinks it’s not fair and it’s important to be kind even when you are unhappy,” she told Vice.
Many have expressed that Ranbir’s snarky and misogynistic comments are just another example of the kind of culture imbibed in India – where men insulting their wives under the guise of a joke is seen as a love language.
I hate guys who do this to their wives. This low key mocking of their demeanour which they then pass on to the kids.
Very common in Indian families. pic.twitter.com/rZLwkHu3fD

Since the pair got married in 2022, they have quickly become one of the ‘It-couples’ of Bollywood. While some people countered the criticism stating that folks on the internet have no business commenting on celebrities’ private lives – the point still stands that many people look up to celebrities and try to imitate their behaviours and traits. Many believe that Alia’s comments about her relationship are glorifying misogynistic behaviour and might have a more significant impact than one might expect.
