End of an Era: Roger Federer Bids Goodbye To Tennis

As the fans were getting acquainted to see the exceptional Serena Williams bid goodbye to court, Roger Federer just announced his retirement on his social media accounts.

“I have played more than 1500 matches over 24 years. Tennis has treated me more generously than I ever would have dreamt, and now I must recognize when it is time to end my competitive career”, said Federer in his note.

The 41-year old Tennis legend has won 6 Australian Open, 1 French Open, 8 Wimbledon and 5 US Open titles in his 24 years of competitive career. Federer has been out of action since his knee-injury. “…the past three years have presented me with challenges in the form of injuries and surgeries. I’ve worked hard to return to full competitive form. But I also know my body’s capacities and limits, and its message to me lately has been clear” Federer stated in his farewell note.
